Abstract

Of 82 cities monitoring national CPI, in October 2018, as many as 66 cities experienced inflation and 16 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Palu City by 2.27 percent and the lowest occurred in Kota Cilegon by 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Bengkulu City at -0.74 percent and the lowest in Tangerang City at -0.01

percent.

Tarakan City in October 2018 inflation was 0.03 percent with the calendar year inflation rate of 2.56 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate of 3.27 percent.

Inflation in Tarakan City is influenced by an increase in the price index in the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.65 percent, followed by clothing group by 0.55 percent, health group by 0.23 percent, education, recreation and sports group experiencing inflation of 0.15 percent and the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0.05 percent. While the other 2 groups experienced a decrease in index, namely the transportation and communication group by -0.60 percent and the foodstuffs group at -0.27 percent.
