Abstract

Of 82 cities monitoring national CPI, in February 2019, as many as 13 cities experienced inflation and 69 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tual Municipality at 2.98 percent and the lowest occurred in Kendari Municipality at 0.03 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Merauke at -2.11 percent and the lowest in Serang, which was -0.02 percent.
Kalimantan Utara Province (Tarakan Municipality) in February 2019 there was a deflation of -0.03 percent with the inflation rate of the calendar year of 0.94 percent and year-on-year inflation of 5.38 percent.
Deflation in Kalimantan Utara (Tarakan Municipality) was influenced by a decrease in the price index in the foodstuffs group, which was -2.35 percent and the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by -0.11 percent. Whereas those who experienced an increase in the index were in the transportation, communication and financial services group at 4.40 percent, then the clothing group by 0.07 percent, then the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.05 percent, and the health group by 0.04 percent. While the price index in the education, recreation and sports group was 0.00 percent.
