Abstract

Out of 82 national CPI monitoring cities, most cities experienced inflation in July 2018 of 68 cities and 14 other cities experiencing deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sorong City of 1.47 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Depok, Banyuwangi and Surabaya respectively by 0.03 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Ambon City of -1.45 percent and the lowest in Pelembang of -0.01 percent.
Tarakan Municipality in July 2018 there was a deflation of -1.40 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 2.64 percent and year-on-year inflation rate of 1.87 percent.
Deflation in Tarakan Municipality was influenced by price index in transport and communications group which decreased by -8.83 percent followed by foodstuff category by -0.87 percent and clothing group by -0.04 percent. While the 4 groups of lannya experienced inflation of the finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.29 percent and then the education, recreation and sports group experienced inflation of 0.18 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0 , 05 percent and the health group experienced inflation of 0.03 percent.
