Abstract

Out of 82 national CPI monitoring cities, most cities experienced inflation in April 2018, which was 54 cities and 28 other cities experiencing deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Merauke at 1.32 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Kudus and Padang by 0.01 percent. The highest deflation occurred in Tual City at -2.26 percent and the lowest in Medan, Bandar Lampung and Tegal at -0.01 percent.
Tarakan City in April 2018 inflation of 0.29 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 0.84 percent and Year-on-Year Inflation rate of 2.20 percent.
Inflation in Tarakan was influenced by an increase in the food price index by 1.16 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.08 percent, food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco by 0.04 percent and health groups as well as education, recreation and sports groups experienced inflation by 0.00 percent. While the other two groups namely transportation and communication and clothing group experienced deflation respectively by -0.24 percent and -0.25 percent.
