Abstract

Of the 82 cities monitoring national CPI, in January 2019 as many as 73 cities experienced inflation and 9 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan Municipality at 1.23 percent and the lowest occurred in Pematang Siantar Municipality by 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Tual Municipality at -0.87 percent and the lowest in Merauke Municipality which was -0.01 percent.
Kalimantan Utara Province (Tarakan Municipality) in January 2019 inflation was 0.96 percent with the calendar year inflation rate was 0.96 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate of 5.49 percent.
Inflation in Kalimantan Utara (Tarakan Municipality) is influenced by an increase in the price index in the foodstuffs group at 2.23 percent, the transportation, communication, and financial services group by 1.99 percent, the processed food group, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco group at 0.74 percent. Furthermore, the health group amounted to 0.46 percent, the clothing by 0.17 percent, and the education, recreation and sports group by 0.07 percent. Meanwhile, the housing, water, electriMunicipality, gas and fuel group experienced deflation amounted to -0.26 percent.
