Abstract

Of 82 municipalities monitoring national CPI, in May 2019, as many as 81 municipalities experienced inflation and 1 other municipality experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tual Municipality at 2.91 percent and the lowest occurred in Kediri Municipality by 0.05 percent. While deflation occurred in Merauke by -0.49 percent.
Kalimantan Utara Province (Tarakan Municipality) in May 2019 there was inflation of 0.77 percent with the inflation rate of the calendar year of 1.67 percent and year-on-year inflation of 5.33 percent.
Inflation in Kalimantan Utara (Tarakan Municipality) was influenced by an increase in the price index in the transportation and communication group by 2.11 percent, the foodstuffs group by 1.27 percent, the health group by 0.73 percent, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups by 0.24 percent. Then the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group was 0.20 percent, the clothing group was 0.02 percent. While the price index in the education, recreation and sports group remained stable, which was 0.00 percent.
