Abstract

  • The Gender Inequality Index (IKG) for North Kalimantan in 2023 was 0.452, an increase of 0.008 points compared to 2022 which was 0.444.
  • This increase was influenced by the decline in the indicator of participation of women members in the legislature in the empowerment dimension, while other indicators experienced improvement.
  • Improvements in the reproductive health dimension are influenced by improvements in 2 indicators, namely the proportion of women aged 15-49 years who gave live births not in a health facility (MTF) and the proportion of women aged 15-49 years who were less than 20 years old at their first live birth (MHPK20). MTF has decreased from 5.6 percent in 2022 to 5.4 percent in 2023, while MHPK20 has decreased from 29.2 percent in 2022 to 28.9 percent in 2023.
  • Improvements in the empowerment dimension are influenced by improvements in the indicator of the percentage of women 25 years and over with a high school education or above, which has increased more than men. The percentage of women increased from 41.48 percent in 2022 to 41.95 percent in 2023, while the percentage of men decreased from 47.27 percent in 2022 to 46.86 percent in 2023. Meanwhile, the indicator for women's representation in the legislature decreased from 11 .43 percent in 2022 to 8.57 percent in 2023.
  • Improvements in the dimensions of the labor market are influenced by the level of labor force participation of both women and men. Men's TPAK increased from 83.67 percent in 2022 to 85.18 percent in 2023, while women's TPAK increased from 49.30 percent in 2022 to 53.60 percent in 2023.
