Abstract

The economy of North Kalimantan in the second quarter of 2023 as measured by the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached IDR 36.73 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached IDR 17.23 trillion.
  • North Kalimantan's economy in the second quarter of 2023 against the second quarter of 2022 grew by 5.01 percent (y-on-y). From the production side, the highest growth was achieved by the Electricity and Gas Procurement business field of 26.30 percent. From the expenditure side, the highest growth was achieved by the Gross Fixed Capital Formation Component of 27.04 percent.
  • North Kalimantan's economy in the second quarter of 2023 against the first quarter of 2023 grew by 2.37 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, the highest growth occurred in the Electricity and Gas Procurement business field by 24.10 percent. From the expenditure side, the highest growth was achieved by the Government Consumption Expenditure Component which grew by 63.47 percent.
  • North Kalimantan's economy in the first semester of 2023 compared to the first semester of 2022 grew by 5.15 percent (c-to-c). From the production side, growth was driven by growth in all categories of business fields, where the highest was achieved by the Electricity and Gas Procurement business field of 16.83 percent. From the expenditure side, the highest growth was achieved by the Government Consumption Expenditure Component of 22.96 percent.
  • Spatially, the economic structure of the Kalimantan Island region in the second quarter of 2023 is dominated by East Kalimantan Province at 47.14 percent and the least is North Kalimantan Province at 8.67 percent. Apart from having the largest role, East Kalimantan Province's economic performance recorded the highest growth of 6.84 percent, while North Kalimantan Province took second place with growth of 5.01 percent (y-on-y).
