Abstract

    The economy of Kalimantan Utara Province based on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current market prices in the second quarter of 2020 reached Rp 24.24 trillion and at 2010 constant market prices in 2010 reached Rp 14.74 trillion.
  • The economy of Kalimantan Utara Province in the second quarter of 2020 to the second quarter of 2019 contracted 3.35 percent (y-on-y). From the production side, negative growth was driven by almost all business sectors, where the highest was achieved by the contracted Accommodation and Eating business sector at 19.27 percent. In terms of Expenditures the highest negative growth was achieved by the Government Consumption Expenditures Component which contracted by 6.54 percent.
  • The economy of Kalimantan Utara Province in the second quarter of 2020 against the first quarter of 2020 contracted by 6.95 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, the decline was caused by the contraction that occurred in some of the largest business sectors, namely the contraction in the business of Accommodation and Food and Water Supply by 22.08 percent. While from the expenditure side, the decline was caused partly by the contraction in the Export of Goods and Services Components by 2.76 percent.
  • The economy of Kalimantan Utara Province in the first semester of 2020 compared to the first semester of 2019 grew 0.81 percent (c-to-c). From the production side, growth was driven by all business fields, the highest growth was in the Health Services Business Sector and Social Activities by 8.89 percent. While in terms of expenditure, the highest growth was in the Import of Goods and Services Components which grew by 7.45 percent.
  • Spatially, the economic growth of Kalimantan Island in the second quarter of 2020 contracted by 4.35 percent. The decline in growth was mainly due to contracted economic growth in all provinces in Kalimantan Selatan Province which contracted by 2.61 percent; Kalimantan Barat Province at 3.40 percent; Kalimantan Utara Province 3.35 percent; Kalimantan Tengah Province by 3.15 percent and Kalimantan Timur Province  by 5.46 percent.
  • In Kalimantan, the economic contribution is still dominated by Kalimantan Timur Province at 49.09 percent and the lowest in Kalimantan Utara Province at 7.98 percent and the trend is always increasing.
