Abstract

    The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) of Kalimantan Utara Province is a composite indicator that shows the level of development of Democracy in Kalimantan Utara Province. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of three aspects of democracy, namely civil liberties, political rights and institutions of democracy.
  • The IDI method uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) local newspaper review, (2). Document review (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3). Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) In-depth Interviews.
  • The Indonesian Democracy Index of Kalimantan Utara Province in 2019 was 83.45, on a scale of 0 to 100. This figure has increased compared to the 2018 IDI number of 81.07. The achievements of Kalimantan Utara democracy index remain in the "good" category. Classification of the level of democracy is grouped into three categories namely "Good" (index of more than 80), "moderate" (index between 60 - 80), and "Poor" (index of less than 60).
  • The change in IDI numbers in Kalimantan Utara from 2018 to 2019 was influenced by 3 aspects of democracy namely (1) Civil liberties which fell 0.76 points (from 97.36 to 96.60), (2) Political rights which fell 0.88 points ( from 75.80 to 74.92), and (3) Democratic institutions which rose by 11.51 points (from 68.95 to 80.46).
