Abstract

    The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) of Kalimantan Utara is a composite indicator that shows the level of development of Democracy in Kalimantan Utara. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of three aspects of democracy, namely civil liberties (Civil Liberty), political rights (Political Rights) and Democratic Institutions (Institution of Democracy) The IDI method uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) review of local newspapers, (2). Review of documents (Perda, Pergub, Etc), (3). Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) In-depth Interviews.
  • The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) of Kalimantan Utara in 2018 is 81.07, on a scale of 0 to 100. This number has increased compared to the IDI 2017 figure of 81.06. The achievement of Kalimantan Utara's democratic performance remains in the "good" category. The classification of the level of democracy is grouped into three categories namely "Good" (index more than 80), "moderate" (index between 60 - 80), and "Bad" (index less than 60).
  • Changes in the number of IDI of Kalimantan Utara from 2017 to 2018 are influenced by 3 aspects of democracy, namely (1) Civil liberties which fell 1.21 points (from 98.57 to 97.36), (2) Political rights which rose 7.26 points ( from 68.54 to 75.80), and (3) Democratic institutions which fell 9.98 points (from 78.93 to 68.95).
