Abstract

The number of poor people in Kalimantan Utara in March 2019 was 48.78 thousand (6.63 percent). In September 2018 the poor people numbered 49.59 thousand (6.86 percent), meaning that the number of poor people was reduced by 0.81 thousand people or decreased by 0.23 percent.

During September 2018 – March 2019, the poverty line rose by 4.98 percent, from Rp. 620,501, - per capita per month in September 2018 to Rp. 651,416, - per capita per month in March 2019.
In the period September 2018 – March 2019, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) has increased, from 0.911 in the September 2018 situation to 1.157 in March 2019. Similarly, the Poverty Severity Index (P2) has increased from 0.175 to 0.309.
In March 2019, the level of inequality of population expenditure as measured by the Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.295. This figure is down by 0.009 points compared to the September 2018 Gini Ratio which is 0.304.
In March 2019, the distribution of expenditure for the lowest 40 percent of the population was 21.92 percent. This means that population expenditure is still in the low level of inequality category.
