Abstract

The economy of Kalimantan Utara based on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices based on quarter I-2019 reached Rp. 23.16 trillion and on the basis of constant 2010 prices reached Rp. 15.07 trillion.
The economy of Kalimantan Utara in quarter I-2019 compared to quarter I-2018 grew 7.13 percent (y-on-y), higher than the quarter I-2018 achievement of 5.76 percent. In terms of production, the highest growth was achieved by other Service Business Fields at 9.99 percent. In terms of expenditure achieved by the Component of Exports of Goods and Services which grew 10.35 percent.
Kalimantan Utara economy in quarter I-2019 against quarter IV-2018 fell by 0.56 percent (q-to-q). In terms of production, the decline was caused by contractions that occurred in several business fields. While in terms of expenditure, the decline was caused partly by a contraction in the Component of Government Consumption Expenditures; and Formation of Gross Fixed Capital, and Foreign Exports.
Spatially, The economy growth of Kalimantan Island in quarter I-2019 decreased by 0.18 percent. The decline in economic growth was mainly due to the decline in economic growth in three provinces, namely Kalimantan Barat, Kalimantan Selatan and Kalimantan Utara. The Economy of Kalimantan Selatan growth fell by 5.57 percent, Kalimantan Utara fell 0.56 percent and Kalimantan Barat fell 0.26 percent. In contrast, two other provinces grew positively, namely Kalimantan Tengah and Kalimantan Timur, each growing by 2.13 percent and 0.90 percent.
On the island of Kalimantan, the economic contribution is still dominated by Kalimantan Timur at 51.90 percent and the lowest in Kalimantan Utara at 7.28 percent.
