Abstract

The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) of Kalimantan Utara is a composite indicator that shows the level of development of Democracy in Kalimantan Utara. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of three aspects of democracy, namely civil freedom (Civil Liberty), Political Rights (Political Rights) and Democratic Institutions (Institution of Democracy)
  • The IDI method uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) review of local newspapers, (2). Review documents (Regional Regulations, Government Regulations, etc.), (3). Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) In-depth Interviews.
  • IDI Kalimantan Utara in 2017 amounted to 81.06, on a scale of 0 to 100. This figure has increased compared to the 2016 IDI figure of 76.98. The achievement of Kalimantan Utara's democratic performance increased from the "medium" category to the "good" category. The classification of democratic levels is grouped into three categories, namely "Good" (index more than 80), "medium" (index between 60 - 80), and "Bad" (index less than 60)
  • The change in IDI Kalimantan Utara figures from 2016 to 2017 was influenced by 3 aspects of democracy, namely (1) Civil liberties which dropped 1.43 points (from 100.00 to 98.57), (2) Rights-political rights rose 1.90 points ( from 66.64 to 68.54), and (3) Democratic institutions that rose 14.45 points (from 64.48 to 78.93)
