Abstract

IDI is a composite indicator that shows the level of democratic development in Indonesia. The level of performance is measured by the implementation and development of three aspects of democracy, namely Civil Liberty, Political Rights and Institution of Democracy.  IDI calculation methodology uses 4 sources of data: (1) local newspaper reviews, (2) document review (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.  The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) of Kalimantan Utara 2016 was 76.98 on a scale of 0 to 100. This declined by 3.18 points compared to 2015 at 80.16 and this number (Kaltara) was 6.89 points higher than with a national figure of 70.09. The democratic performance of  Kalimantan Utara in 2015 is in the "Good" category, falling to the "moderate" category by 2016. The level of democracy is grouped into three categories namely "good" (index> 80), "medium" (indexes 60-80) and "bad" (index <60).
 IDI  Kalimantan Utara 2016 is influenced by three aspects of democracy namely Aspect of Civil Liberties of 100.00; Political Rights Aspect of 66.64 and Aspects of Democratic Institutions of 64.48
